Head spin

Good Grief! I just sold my house. Well, I have accepted an offer. It took two weeks, from deciding to sell to slapping some paint about, shoving everything in a cupboard, and getting an agent round. Two weeks ago my house smelled of dog and cigarettes. Now it smells of expensive room fragrance and I can't find anything. We haven't got anywhere to go...although we have our hearts set on a place already under offer. Perhaps we will end up in the van and will be proper pikeys at last.

Self-build. Why not? You just need to lease a caravan and a big shed for about three years while you live on site and build your dream home.

Hope you find the perfect place.

You're out in the garden with a stack of egg boxes and pruning shears taking cuttings, aren't you. Moving a whole garden is just a matter of time really and yours can't just be left there.

WOAR - we've found the place and the purchase is looking good. We're winging it on this one and it's so far, so good. Fingers crossed.

HG - yes, indeed, there will be a mass garden transplantation. One of the delights of the place we are hoping to purchase is that it has a large garden, there are sheds, room for a polytunnel; dogwise all we have to do is cross the road in front of the house and off we go.

Just about exactly perfect - and in a very desirable location, just down the road from where Siegfried Sasson is buried!

Sassoon owned Heytesbury, I seem to remember. Are you going to the Wylye Valley? It's great. I know a few people between Wylye and Norton Bavant. Fingers crossed.

And I loved Sassoon's autobiographical trilogy. I have invested in an iPad and will purchase them this weekend for reading on the evening train.

hey, good luck with that !

sticking to the same neck of the woods ?

(of course I could have googled where SS is buried ...)

Here's a clue Nick...there is a Lutyens designed bus shelter.

couldn't be the Wylye valley, Idle, as a) my ex lived there when we broke up
b) it is in Wiltshire and I have already lived in Wiltshire. Wiltshire and Somerset have a relationship not unlike England and France.

Or rather, France and England.

The plants! I know HG. We are looking forward to being able to give them more room too.

WOAR..land around here is so pricey. You can get a handkerchief with pp for about £100k

Bon voyage. Keep in touch and don't forget your dongle.

Okey dokey, I give up...

Meanwhile, here is a little something for you to boogie along to - featuring Lil on "bass", Elby on washboard, EK on guitar, Scrobs on banjo and Calfy on central banjo.

Enjoy

Sorry folks, but the post above at 14.36 should have gone on the thread below about Mr Dylan's dulcet tones. But get your dancing shoes on and enjoy anyway!

There we all are Nomad! :-) one of our better performances.

There's a traveller's area just up the road from me. You'd fit right in.

Did you tell the buyers about the sewerage works btw ?

lilith said...

Thanks Kev :-) and no, of course not.

I reckon you buy a house in about 9 seconds. Your enthusiasm is brilliant. Fingers crossed!! Am off to some Marsden Jazz Festival and some Barb Jungr lass is charging £20 of your english pounds to do a Bob Dylan medely. Feel like i'm getting ripped off already.......good luck with the estate agents....

... or the burn marks on your patio ? And WHO it was who did it ???

lilith said...

Remember the old adage Dick, "Jazz fucks you up," and have a really good time. We are fall back buyers for two houses in the same road. Both vendors are unhappy with the lack of engagement of their purchasers and are keeping us on the line...could get either or neither, but it is very exciting.

Kev, the burn marked slabs have been removed and framed and hung in the drawing room. You know how much I love art.

Hellfire, Lils!

How on earth did I miss all this!

This is indeed marvellous news, and of course, there will be suitable accomodation in the Kent Themerama, especially for you, Elbers and of course, your seven dogs and three mice!

By now, of course, you'll be in the lap of the lawyers, and I hope all goes well for you both!

(If you end up in Wiltshire, I left a pair of new wellington boots in my old office in Swindon! They're yours to keep)!

Absolutely nothing has happened since I posted this Scrobs. Except that I am reassured that the purchasers are on. No sign of a valuer though....

We looked at a gorgeous house in Wiltshire yesterday. Unfortunately the vendor wanted me to compensate him for his optimism in 2007. There's a lot of that about.

I've got a spare room if you can't find anywhere to move to. £600 a month inc. bills. Pets allowed until my new carpets arrive.

lilith said...

Thank you Blue Eyes. We may have found somewhere. Put an offer in on a place which was sort of accepted (not finalised) then a couple of days ago something else has popped up. Viewing tomorrow.

Realised that comment makes less sense outside of my head.

You would of course be welcome in the slum pits of Sarf London anytime, although I doubt there would be room for the garden.

I mentioned rent and pets because of Dog Wars with my last lodger who announced on the day he was arriving that he had a dog. The dog would be in the flat for the weekend before his parents took over responsibility. How could I refuse? Where else was the dog going to go?

The dog and its rather pathetic owner stayed, I put up with all manner of anti-social behaviour in the name of rental income. Eventually I decided my personal space was worth more than the money and grew a spine and kicked him out.

A cautionary tale...:-) We went to see our dream home today. Part of a chain :-( but everybody is keen....
