It is such a splendid track Trubes...I never tire of it...perfect for bopping around the palm trees on that desert island...
Pip: how are you blogging from a caravan!?
Scrobs, :-)) It is my handbags lying all over the place that are the death trap...and Pig's bones of course. Elby is convinced I am trying to kill him.
Surely the most under-rated person in post-war Western popular culture, shameless racism; if he was white he'd a been known as the first singer-songwriter, doing subterranean homesick blues while Bobby was having his Bar Mitzvah. The Beatles, The Stones, Dylan, Springsteen, they all stole his licks, even Buddy Holly covered this one. Fuck Elvis and Bill Haley, Chuck Berry is rock'n'roll.
Since you did not include "balding" in your description, Lil, I shall happily join those to whom this applies and continue riding along in my automobile..
Just Google those last 5 words and add Chuck Berry for several excellent versions of that song.
I wouldn't exactly say "Fuck Elvis & Bill Haley", Ishmael - Elvis' early music - Sun label - is magnificent, and Haley & The Comets rocked; he had a fantastic guitarist. But yes - Chuck Berry is THE MAN. Also to be recognised, his pianist Johnny Johnson, who played with Bob Weir in his post-Dead band, Ratdog, for a while; his piano licks are the supreme Rock 'n Roll licks, which drove the Berry Rock 'n Roll juggernaut.
I was soaked in this stuff at a very early age - 5 and onwards, by my older brother who had all of their records (Diddley too - Mama Don't Allow No Dancing In This House). Still remember his mate next door coming home with Elvis first album. As that bastard Lou Reed sang (and he wrote pop songs before the VU) - My life was saved by rock 'n roll. As for rock music. Fuck off. You can't dance to it.
Inspirational even, as I have picked it up and started a Chain on the Idle blog. The design is to connect my song, via obvious or (even better) complicated means to a favourite song of AN Other blogger, etc etc until it goes viral.
