White man's blues

Congratulations to my sister who has married her Indigenous Appalachian (formerly hill billy) to the delight of her family.

You may have come across his work...he sang on the Cold Mountain soundtrack and played the last track on Alison Krauss/Robert Plant's album.

Will he be playing at the funeral too?

We could end up having a hell of a wake.

I do hope so Idle. He does a wonderful version of this.

He is excellent at playing for dancers too. Add a bit of moonshine to the punch and you're all away!

As his near neighbour The Colonel might have said: "Fingerpickin' good". And congratulations to the happy couple too.

Several years ago on a business visit to the boondocks, (against our better judgement, but as the whole place was taken up with it we felt we had to join in the fun), the team in which I and my colleague had been allocated places were robbed of a prize in a pub quiz in favour of one containing a couple of thickish, but well-developed, giggling local female teenagers who were obviously regulars in the saloon bar and well known to the organisers (the other members of that team were admittedly quite bright and were able to carry their passengers).

The question as announced was: "Spell Appalachian" - which we duly did. When the answers were given, the correct spelling was given as "appellation". 'Twas useless to argue with the setters who rudely informed us that if we couldn't tell the difference between Appalachian and appellation we must have some kind of hearing problem. That point cost us the championship which was awarded the Gigglers Anonymous.

Bloody yokels...

PS: I agree with Idle; the staff are polishing up my plectrums as I type.

Congrats to your sibling, Lils. I hope they always welcome each other and never cease to find comfort in one another.
