What the hell happened to freedom of speech?

What is going on? A 15 year old has been arrested for holding a placard saying that "Scientology is a dangerous cult"! There, I have said it too, City Police.

I suspect a dyslexic plod.

What a cult.

I'm always suspicious of 'big' people wanting 'small' people to be followers.

Good Grief Idle, you're right!!

Yes, Scrobs, be very wary of those whose ambition is to "influence" people.

If Scientology is so great why do they have to jump you on Tottenham Court Road?

This comment from "Ranter" yesterday chez Blue Eyes may give a clue:

"....A prime example being the prosecution of a 15 year old by City police for harrassment,alarm & distress outside the Scientology 'church', the sign 'alleged' they were a cult!

The City police have 'previous' for 'enjoying' the hospitality of this organisation - something sinister going on - just google 'City of London police scientology'.

A generation or two of senior police need to be swept away - ain't gonna happen though!"

Hope that helps!

Shocking GG. Unbelievable. The City Police are a Cult...:-)

PS. I am looking forward to this by election today. What an exciting person I am, the kind who gets excited by by-elections.

I'm looking forward to the result from Crewe too, lil. Anything which puts another hole in the hull of GayGordo is fine by me even if the prime beneficiary is old potato head Cameron, who is an opportunist masquerading as a Conservative.

Morning Lils,

So am I looking forward to the Crewe bits...That Tamsin creature is an appalling example of a weedy Nulabyrinthe politician grubbing around just until she can get back to her huge abode - hopefully with a huge 'NO' written all over her posters.

If Pips calls in, can you tell her that I think I've found her shop?

Hi Boys. There is a news blackout on the byelection...Hilarious. I have just predicted a 5000 plus majority for the conservatives on Dale.

I agree with you about Scientology. Loons.

I thought the City Police was dominated by Catholics in my day. All the main promotions went to Catholics - rarely to Freemasons as some would have us believe.

Studies of the psychological aspects of cults focus on the individual person, and factors relating to the choice to become involved as well as the subsequent effects on individuals. Under one view, an important factor is coercive persuasion which suppresses the ability of people to reason, think critically, and make choices in their own best interest.
Studies of religious, political, and other cults have identified a number of key steps in this type of coercive persuasion:
People are put in physically or emotionally distressing situations;
Their problems are reduced to one simple explanation, which is repeatedly emphasized;
They receive unconditional love, acceptance, and attention from a charismatic leader;
They get a new identity based on the group;
They are subject to entrapment (isolation from friends, relatives, and the mainstream culture) and their access to information is severely controlled.

A little like blogging you think?

I might set me up a church somewhere... Who would come sit on the right hand of Modo?

Hey Lil,
Not getting much sleep down here. And I've seen things a fellow should never have to see.

Lilith said...

E-K, it is extraordinary isn't it? Now they are going to arrest Mutley too...

Lucien, Lucien! Trust you to give me an explanation :-)) The Church of Modo and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence...

Don't worry Modo, it is good for you. It builds moral fibre, (not that you are short of it!)

Great to wake up to the news that Nulabliar got a major kicking last night :-)

Scroblene said...

Absolutely Lils!

I was listening out on the radio around 4.00am (JRT had woken us all up with something, presumably outside), and just caught the news on some African station or something...

They must have called the writ for this by-election, knowing that in a) they could get a 'fall girl' like Tammers on the list, and b) that parliament would be in recession the week after, so Brown could hide away from everyone!

Elderflower cordials all round I say! Or a nice Sauvignon blanc...

I think the Jehova's Witnesses are as big a bunch of cults as the Scientologist loonies. Losers, the lot of 'em.

Great result an C & N.

The grinning skull got what she deserved, and should fade back into the woodwork. What a horrendous-looking bint.

On the other hand, that Timpson gal's a bit of a stunner, what? Hope she's not a JWitness.

Lilith said...

oh yes Killem, that was the first thing I noticed, Mrs Babe Timpson.
:-)

Your little JRT is such a live wire Scrobs. What do you feed her? Pig ignores us until 7.30 if we get up before then :-)

Talking of "cults", did anyone else notice the story yesterday of the lad who was stopped and threatened by the fuzz because he had an England flag on his car dashboard? The super-efficent on-message prat of a Plod thought it might upset the immigrants!

W T F IS GOING ON????

Perhaps it is time for all us good and true English people to declare ourselves as honorable members of the English Cult.

GG, I am an immigrant and a British passport holder. I find the police attitude offensive.

The reason little girls have got more convictions (up 25%) is because 13 year old shoplifters are now the only ones our police are prepared to go for.
