D'oh

Just got done for speeding on the A303. Bunty was right. Never go further west than Thruxton. The policeman looked incredulous as I sped past him at 75mph but my excuse is that the sun was in my eyes and I couldn't see him. I think he thought I was going to knock him down....

I do not know what the fine is over in the UK-but here it is $364.00 plus 2 points off your license.

If you are going 15km over the posted limit , you will lose your license for 24 hours and 30 km over 30 days. Plus the fine gets to be more as the speed goes up.

As of 1 April ( no joke) here in Nova Scotia- illegal to drive with a cell phone in your hand ( hands free blu-tooth only). Also you cannot smoke in a car on the road ways anymore if there are children under the age of 16. Both are around a 200.00 plus fine.

You had a good excuse though, Sun was in your eyes. the police do not have much of a sense of humour, but like their Tim Horton's ( donut and coffee shop).

I don't know what the fine is either yet :-( I was 15 mph over the speed limit and 5mph over the national limit. It is dead cert license points. Not clever. Dosy.

Hello Newmania, thank you. Hows it going?

Lilith: The speed limit on motorways is 70mph, but I think you will find that the national speed limit on any "derestricted" road, ie one marked with a white disc with a black diagonal line through, is actually 60mph. I don't think that has been changed.

That said, you were just unlucky. I have often driven the A303 twixt Basingstoke and Exeter at that speed quite safely, especially after about 8.30pm when the road is (or at least was!) usually almost empty. Better luck next time!

I think you are right Nomad. 15mph over the speed limit. At least that was what I was doing when I passed the copper...The 303 is a very useful but irritating road. Long stretches of dual carriage with good visibility and no housing. The M3 would probably seize up if everyone on the 303 observed the speed limit.

The speed limit on an A road is up to 70mph if it is a dual carrigeway with central reservation. It may be that you were only 5mph over and you have been harshly treated.

Are you sure it was a 60 limit ? If so ... you numpty ! What were ya thinkin' ???

Lils,

That's bad luck - sorry about that!

I knew a chap who was pinged like that and the sneering copper asked him what his job was.

My chum said he was a rectum stretcher, explaining that he used various implements to enlarge said orifice until it became 6ft wide.

Copper said what do you do with a six foot arsehole then...

Chum said that you give him a camera gun and hide him behind a bridge...

Fine - £150
Points on license - 3
Look on copper's face - priceless!

;0)

hahahah loved the image, I am always creating colourful excuses if I am pulled over, but alas, I've never been pulled over. I think it's because I'm a good girl on the road.

Sometimes though, in my wildest thoughts, I imagine him bending me over the cop car and giving me a good rogering with the flashing lights making my boobs red and blue :)
