Germaine Greer is NOT my mother. She just looks similar and my Mum has read all her books. Another difference is that my mother dances Flamenco and has never said "Every Australian has a little boat" or posed naked.
Well spotted Bill. I can't do Greer. I don't know if it is her politics or her physical similarity to my mother. I was born a feminist, but Germaine just makes me wish I was a man.
She is just a big mouth. Of late she has become a sad caricature of herself. She basically earned herself a fairdinkum fatwa over her comments about steve irwin.
Anybody remember The Kenny Everett Show ? There was a sketch on that called "Big Scouse, Little Scouse". Kenny was Little Scouse and Ms Greer was Big Scouse.("Big Gob" may have been more appropiate). I can`t remember the jist of the particular sketch, It probably wasn`t very funny, or I would have remembered it. Who could forget Kenny Everett`s "Brother Lee Love" and "Cupid Stunt"?....Classic ! Ms.Greer had a big "Afro" hairstyle, in her Big Scouse, Little Scouse sketch and wore outrageous gear, including micro mini's, etc.
yup lilith charm not looks He is an arsehole but funny. Gets a chap a long way (+: Luckily old ma Hitch "was" also great looking , funny AND intelligent, probably explains my magnetism (+:
Ooer.. Lilith. It seems that i`m the only onehere in Trubeland that remembers that Sketch with Kenny Everett and Germain Greer. I`ll have to check now... Did I dream this ? Eeerm....must be the Morphine...
Trubes: Don't specifically recall that episode. My favourite Kenny was his hilarious impersonation of Rod Stewart in those outrageous tight leopardskin trousers.
'Nice Time', Granada TV 1968. A show hosted by Kenny Everett and co- hosted by Germain Greer. This may have been before the Kenny Everett Show and perhaps, only screened in 'Granadaland'.
g.g. I too, loved Kenny`s 'Rod Stewart' impression. I`d forgotten that one, he was such a funny man, 'tis a shame he died so prematurely.
My 3 year old daughter just sauntered past as I was looking at the Lilith blog, pointed at Germaine and announced.. "It's Nana!". I had to phone my Mum to tell her. Being of a similar vintage to La Greer and rather a fan she was quite flattered!
Bless your little babe, Fleet! My daughter said the same thing at about the same age when she got a fleeting glimpse of Christopher Walken in King of New York.
"Ai YAH My morals and tastes ebb and flow with the tide. Probably cos Im a Gemini"
I dunno if it's because we are Geminis Hitch, but it's a handy hook to hang it on :-))))
FFS what have I said to you about backing away from the computer before you hit the delete button? I didn't even have time to link your last two blogs, Hitch.

Well that's sorted then.
Phew !
And Alf Garnet is not my Dad. Just so you know.
I am so glad E-K...:-)
germaibe Greer looks like everybodies mother
ps pa hitch shagged her
just to remind you all
A propos of your Justin Timberlake post last week, L, did you see Polly's latest outburst? (Guardian, natch)
"... his own besetting sin - cowardice. Why else would he write a wistful book about the courage of others?"
ah well
Now hell it hath no fury
like a jilted Polly Toynbee ...
Greer is an aussie and you are a kiwi (see, I have been paying attention)
Hitch, your Dad never shagged my Mum, so there. But I have to say he can name drop his notches ;-) Must have been a bit of a charmer in his time.
Hi Nick :-) Poor Polly. What is left for her but to move to Sweden?

Blogging bollocks? Greer has bollocks? Actually I can believe that.
Didn't she publish pictures of her um... 'lady jane'?
Her 'Lady Jane bollocks' was that Pippy ?
I'd love to have seen that - Germaine Greer go fuck herself.
You should have run a caption comp too with that harridanous(?) pic
She seems to have something irritating to say about just about everything Bill.
Trubes, I have no memory of that ;-)
Hitch, it must be hard being so hot, you being a man of morals and principle an all ;-)
She did Pip. My Mum didn't.
You can see her do it every time she opens her mouth E-K.
GG...too many options :-)

Personally, I've always had a soft spot for Ms Greer.

re. Dennis,
Those gorillas are always the harbingers.
Maybe it's a Lenten doo-da. I wonder if he will come back again under some other guise?
Johnny, I will miss Dennis but I fear for Bunty's poor heart.
When the heart suffers, it no doubt saves the ass from that fate.
(Maybe Dennis and Hitch have to share an old Epson between them, and there is not room for them both at any one time?)
It would be truly awful to suffer haemorrhoids and a broken heart simultaneously, Johnny.
You're right Lilith!
It is him ;0)
Ho Yus!
(Oak and Ivy)...
:-)
