Autumn Hiatus

Acer in my back yard.

I haven't been blogging. I would like to say that it is because I have a life etc etc, but it is just that I have found something even more compelling that has been taking up my evenings. We have been watching the whole oeuvre through, and are currently near the end of series 3 of 6. I missed it on Channel 4 and this way there are no adverts. Fantastic. The only problem is that I am now imagining who I would get Tony to "squash like a bug"... The script is superb, the characters extraordinary and so every evening I am in the New Jersey underworld of "Waste Management".

We came late to the Sopranos, but we are now hard core addicts. We have all the series on dvd apart from series 6. We plan to watch them every year. With my goldfish memory, I will have forgotten most of what happens.

Yes, Fuchsia, it's all fresh to me. And it is so dense you will find freshness there each time. The episode we watched last night was directed by Steve Buscemi and was a blinder...Chris and Pauli freezing their arses off in the New Jersey woods...

Nice acer L! This is the best time of year for them I reckon.

Never saw The Sopranos, and now in the process of scrabbling round Amazon, to see if we can rent it (ya know, on their monthly allowance scheme - very easy)!

Left my ex for Lilith half way through Series 4, so we are a few days off from where I left off. And by dint of some nifty net work, we have ALL of the last series already. Yee hah :-)

Scrobs, Amazon do have it. Pr0lly not Series 6 yet, but by the time you get thru' the rest, it should be available. Best TV drama in as long as I can remember. When they make good TV, the Yanks beat the socks off us.

Sadly not, Hitch, we leave that to the entrepreneurial youth and the Vietnamese. Can't afford the leccy as it is!

That is a splendid Acer you have there Lilith - all the foliage has dropped of the one in the Splund garden... I suspect I may have killed it.

Lilith - if you're looking for candidates that Tony can "squash like a bug" I have a list??

P&P was indeed fantastic N, none better. Mr Darcy your britches *gulp* they're magnificent! (I reckon it was a ferret down in trousers) Aparently Davis is doing another adaptation to be screened shortly. Agree with I Claudius too. Y'all might not remember it but 'Upstairs Downstairs' was excellent and the whole country was hooked. I thought 'Goodnight Mr Tom' was also superb.

On period drama i have to say that the utterly pantie moistening Richard Armitage, who is currently starring in Robin Hood as Guy of Gisborne, certainly impressed me. Pardon me I need to be alone with my thoughts for a moment....

Is this show for homosexual? I have to watch tv in living room with my Landlord and lady Mrs Howels. I would be wery ashamed if they would walk in to find me watching men noshing off other men. If this is so let me know. I am not homo, but they can do it to themselves without myself worrying too much on it.

Ha Ha Ha Newms!

Actually, there are several walks round the red woods, where the slopes are so steep, we call them 'Heart Attack Hills'!. At that point you're probably right...

D'ya remember the immortal line by Sybil in Fawlty Towers, when Basil said he had once wanted to be a surgeon? She replied 'It was a tree surgeon Basil, and you gave up because you couldn't stand the sight of sap'!

Priceless...

A brilliant series - especially the music.

It amazes me how normal these guys seem ... and then they start bumping each other off.

I figging LOVE the Sopranos.

Loooooooove.

E-K, you wanna step up? Cugine...

The Sopranos is on a level with Shakespeare. Acting is superb. I can't imagine any other series keeping me hooked night after night.

There is very little overt homosexuality in The Sopranos, Metody. Lots of testosterone, however.

If I watch 24 I always end up thinking about how much sexier Keifer's Dad is. But I would love to give it a go..only saw a few of the first series.

The 1979(?)BBC version of Pride and Prejudice scarred me for life, Pip. I was reading the novel at the same time and was forever more a swooning romantic.

You take it easy up them hills, Scrobs :-)

Oh, that fuckin show is awesome! I too have just finished watching all the box sets.

There are so many classic lines from Tony Soprano, I'm thinking of collating a list and putting it on my blog, what do you think?

Lilith said...

Why not Herc?

I keep grinning at the line

"If your enemy is choleric in nature, irritate him"

(which was Tony quoting from Sun Tzu - The Art of War....)

fuchsia groan said...

Well, so now it's all over for Tony et al. Still mulling over that ending......

Hercules said...

I'm working on it, so please drop me a line or two with some more quotes.

That is a good one.

My favorite has to be:

“Oh the language on you, do you blow your father with that mouth???”

Said to a black crack whore, after see told Tony to fuck off out of her hood.

Too funny!

Lillith that episode is called the pine barrens.
The sopranos is quite simply the best tv drama ever made and the absolute best management training programme ever devised. We have them all on DVD and series 6 has been downloaded from the net to keep us going until DVD release.

NO SPOILERS PLEASE GUYS!

Fantastic line, Herc.

Best TV ever.
